Bowling Club Personalities:
Rex Stephens
Rex was a bowler who along with "Winkie" put this club on the map of bowls. With great success both individually and in team events, Rex formed a formidable pair with "Winkie". Rex was club champion 7 times between 1929 & 1951.
H.E.WAYTH
"Winkie" was one of the greatest bowlers this club has ever seen. One of the great draw bowlers, he is recognised as being the only man to achieve the feat of having four 'resting - touchers' in one end. (Pictured) He was club champion a record 15 times between 1928 & 1972.
Steve Sullivan
Steve
has retired from playing state bowls for Victoria seven years ago after
playing over 300 state games, an achievement only equalled by seven other
peopleat the time. Steve has had outstanding success at all levels of
the game, playing for Australia on numerous occasions. Steve has won 9
club championships between 1990 and 2010.
Charlie Zanoni
Charlie
was one of the great characters of the club. As well as being one of the
clubs top bowlers, Charlie was always good for a story or dishing out
advice to the likes of Steve Sullivan while he is watching the game on
a Saturday. Charlie won 3 club championships between 1975 & 1979.
