THE WATER CRISIS.
WHAT'S BEEN DONE:
Our Club has invested substantialy in providing the initial infrastructure
required to catch and store rainwater for use on our sporting surfaces.
We have purchased and installed a 358,000L water tank which is located
on the off set tennis court to the south of the Clubhouse. The stormwater
system from the Clubhouse has also been redirected to be permanently linked
to the new tank. We have been fortunate enough over recent weeks to have
secured an amount of water from the "Air Scouring" of
the water mains in the local area and this coupled with the recent deluge
of rain have enabled us to have our tank filled.

WHATS BEING DONE:
We have recently been given an allocation of mains water use from Barwon
Water as a part of the daylight savings water restriction relaxation that
will secure our greens for the remainder of the season and allow us to
complete our second water harvesting project.
WHAT WILL BE DONE:
We have been approved funding for a second water harvesting
project that will double our current above ground water storage. This
funding has been secured through the Commonwealth Government Community
Water Grants Round Three. It is envisaged that a funding agreement will
be signed in the near future and we will be able to commence work on the
project in time to have it compleated prior to the winter rains of next
year. This project involves converting a stormwater soak pit that disperses
the rainfall runoff from the five tennis courts located behind the Clubhouse
to a holding tank with a submersible pump to pump the water into the main
storage tank. The second componant of the project is to install a second
358,000L water tank to be joined to the existing tank creating a 745,000L
storage capacity on site once the existing underground tank is added in
to the equation. This will provide us with three months supply of water
for our three bowling greens and one croquet lawn under severe drought
conditions.
